Monsters... we aren't very 'physical'. Our bodies are made up mostly of magic, so our souls are pretty much all that we are. You humans, though, you're like souls riding around in big meat robots. And since there's more to you guys than magic, it makes your souls stronger than ours. Your souls can persist outside of your body- indefinitely, even! Monster souls... can't do that.
