[Usually when Peridot speaks up on the network, she's pretty perky and authoritative. NOT THIS TIME. HAHA.]

Ssssso... I don't want to cause a panic or anything, but there's not exactly an easy way for me to break this news to everyone, so I'm just going to come right out and say it:

I may have kind of, sort of... absolutely found proof in the Scribe's collections that the Summer Court is tracking us. And by the Summer Court, I mean specifically the Rose Queen and Ignatius and all their cronies from Portland are tracking us. And they know we have the Blue Rose.

I'm afraid that's not possible, [ says the person who literally asked the Ringmaster 'but why CAN'T we just nuke Nightshade' back in Wismuth. ]

There's only a few thousand High Fae: any of their deaths would go noticed. Besides, blasting one of the Summer Fae to hell and back would only invite another to steal the Blue Rose in their place.

Right. With as little as we know about the thing, taking the Blue Rose out of hiding is just going to be handing it over to them, gift wrapped.

Doesn't matter how strong a weapon is if you never get a chance to use it.

About that...why don't we learn more about the thing? We've plenty of mages in the carnival, put us close enough to the Rose to observe and we might be able to learn more about how it works.

I understand why the Ringmaster doesn't want to use it to kill one of the fae, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't use it period.

Uh. Wasn't that how Steven ended up blue?

There's plenty of reasons why Steven might have ended up blue: his faeblood status, the nature of his own gem magic, that odd thing he does where he makes plants sentient, and so on and so forth. We don't know specifically what caused it. And there's no way we could actually learn how unless we study the thing more.

I mean, sure. I'm with you in theory.

Just one of those things where if the trial goes wrong all over again, we're going to be looking back to this moment and feeling pretty stupid.

If you want, you can always petition the Ringmaster to try again. Dunno if she'll go for it, but... maybe it is worth a shot. What do I know.

Tch! Y'all are no fun at all. But more importantly, do we stand a chance against either of the courts without it?

As far as I've been told, the Rose is for defense, not for attack. We run into problems, we take the carnival and get out of here.

Even a shield can kill someone if you bash them hard enough with it. [still, he doesn't seem impressed] "Running away" is a good short term plan, but it won't work forever.

Then what's the point of havin' a weapon like that if we ain't gonna use it?!

The point would be to not let the Courts have it. Better us than them.

So if they attack us, we're just going to... what, try and run away?

We hope that one of the fae does something horrible enough to have them cast out of the court and loathed as much as fae society loathed the Prince.

And then we blast them to hell. [ sorry Zan, Strange doesn't have an answer for what the battle plan is if they're attacked. ]

And if that doesn't happen...? How do we protect ourselves?

The carnival's got defenses of their own. We fall back and hold onto them. [ but Strange isn't 100% confident in that explanation... ]

Mmm. [not 100% confident. Neither is Zangetsu, to be honest] Look, maybe it's because I'm a sword, and ya know, everything looks like a nail to a hammer, but... well.

No, I know the feeling. [ when you have solved all your problems with magic, obviously the answer to solve any new problem is with magic. ] Trust me, if I had any good ideas of how to go on the offensive, I'd share them. As it is, I think we need to study the Miracles more before putting them to any good use.

Well, we can't really do that if the only one we got is under lock and key.

People have studied the Blue Rose before—the Ringmaster keeps it safe inside one of the moons. We'll just have to ask to study it again and come up with the best way to do so.
