[Day 60, Afternoon]

[ By the time the radio turns on it’s about an hour after Lambert’s group has returned and reported their findings to the Ringmaster. Now it’s just a matter of letting everyone else know. It’s Syrlya who speaks first. ]

As most of you are aware, the Summer and Winter Courts have pursued the carnival into the Athenaeum and taken some of our people hostage.

[ “Hostage" is a nice way to say permanent enslavement.] According to the Scribe and Curator, the lifelike and antagonistic nature of the books found here is the library’s defense against intruders, and it is under our control.

And has been under our control this entire time. [Tyki’s voice chimes in, at this point. To which he’s not bitter at all about it. This entire mess could’ve possibly been avoided.] Our will has been controlling the stories to a certain victory each time we have been swallowed up by one. It should be comforting to know that they cannot use the stories against us. They have not been given these defenses.

If we cast the Fae into our own narrative, the magic should be strong enough to combat them. We will be bound to the same story, so we cannot allow them to turn its favor or-- [And this he sounds less certain about.] --break the confines of the story ourselves.

It should be noted as well that the story cannot be entirely unbelievable. To play the part, it must seem plausible. One cannot just snap their fingers and a fae is weakened, for example. Something like that will allow them to break the story. The narrative must be consistent and convincing.

[ The Nightrider finally speaks. There’s an edge of tension to his voice, but otherwise, he’s pretty composed. ]

The good news is, this means you don't have to be a fighter to help. Bad news is, we still have to figure out how we're going to do it, who's going or staying, and if we're dealing with the Courts together or one at at time. We need to come up with something fast -- I don’t want them to give time to figure out their own plans. Catching them by surprise is the best chance we’ve got, so working together in groups makes the most sense.

If you have any useful ideas, now’s the time to share them.

[ And 9S chimes in: ] If anyone wants to hear the exact exchange we had with the Scribe and Curator, I can provide a recording for your viewing.

I said useful ideas.

[ ooc: this is mainly an ic planning post! ooc plotting post to follow to organize things more formally, but feel free to threadjack each other, form up groups of your own, all that good stuff to work out where your character will be. ]
betheman: (OH I REALLY DIDN'T)

KHH...

For it to have been so simple... [He sounds quite broken up about this.] I, the man Gongenzaka, cannot allow myself to fail even slightly, upon this rescue..!

Now, more than ever..!

[Ok big guy.]
prazerbutterfly: (congratulations for pissing me off)

[personal profile] prazerbutterfly 2018-05-22 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Shut up.

[He says flatly and almost rudely, but his words have purpose. One, because of the speeches, and two because he knows where this is going.]

You couldn't have possibly known. None of us did, despite some of us with fat heads saying they were right and yet didn't bother sharing with the rest of us. You played your part just as Steven played his. It just didn't turn out the way either of us wanted.

Go only if you wish to contribute and can do so without false conviction.
betheman: (u fkin kiddin me m8)

[personal profile] betheman 2018-05-22 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[The thing is, Gongenzaka wasn't going to give a speech. He wasn't going to do anything else, in fact, except for prepare for the trip.

So he doesn't take Tyki's words well. At all.

Yet it is not Gongenzaka himself who answers.
]

Are you accusing us of lacking conviction? [Comes a female voice, one far more bouncy, and 'light' than her partner.] Because it almost feels like you are...
prazerbutterfly: (zpost exo - plain today)

[personal profile] prazerbutterfly 2018-05-22 10:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, sorry buddy ol' pal, but what was said a moment ago definitely sounded like a rouse to a speech.]

Not really. I merely don't want anyone with a sense of guilt or realignment to save out of needing to feel redeemed going along for any of the rides. My conscious is clear.
betheman: (FUCK THAT)

[personal profile] betheman 2018-05-22 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh....

[The cheetah sounds quite Ticked.] You do have opinions about how Noboru speaks, don't you... Has it occurred to you that perhaps, the intention is to save a friend rather than a selfish desire for redemption? [she asks quite coolly.]

Rest assured; you won't have anyone like that 'along for the ride', sir.
prazerbutterfly: (a little too fun)

[personal profile] prazerbutterfly 2018-05-22 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Does it matter? [About his opinions on his speech. Things like that tended to roll right off of those who acted as such. He's not really out to lash or harm. He's seen too many with flowery speech and their way of backing out the moment it gets rough.]

Well, it was that very statement I was pondering. A simple 'That is my intention' or 'Don't worry about it' could have worked but since you've said it for him, I suppose that'll do.
betheman: (-3- hrmnnnnnn)

[personal profile] betheman 2018-05-22 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm. My other half is trying to gather a few necessary supplies, [Marishi hums, casually explaining why it was her and not him to answer. And so maybe she'd snatched it from him herself before he could sputter back earlier, but hey! She's here now, and Gongenzaka meanwhile is making sure his healing draughts are ready.]

...Regardless, how he speaks is simply how we were raised to speak, so as to be 'polite'. Respect your elders, take care around strangers and friends alike, so on, so fourth. It's important to be courteous!

...Parts of what Noboru says aren't even translated properly through this magic, actually; I've no idea why I don't sound that way myself. Perhaps it's the curse of being a daemon and not the original part.
prazerbutterfly: (now now)

[personal profile] prazerbutterfly 2018-05-22 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's a good thing she mentioned that because he might think he's too shy to talk about himself. Gon is a strange one to him and he kind of finds the way he talks annoying by proxy simply because of the way he hears it all the damned time.

Whoever this is sounds like quite the polite lady despite such a fiery tongue.
] Ah, you're his daemon. That explains a lot. It's not as if I meant to be rude. You'll forgive me if I've simply heard far too much to be polite about this. The carnival right now has no room for anyone seeking redemption. [It's almost absurd.] That's kind of interesting though.

betheman: (MMMMMTHAT LOOKS BAD)

[personal profile] betheman 2018-05-22 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Correct! You're being far more reasonable about it than others though, so we'll live.

That, and I...suppose we can't fault too many assumptions...
[She mutters, much as she grumbles a little.]

But after all, this is no time for heroics and 'brownie points' and nonsense like that, like you said... ...I'm glad you find it interesting though~ We are quite full of surprises, despite not intending to be, it seems... [She sounds more intrigued than conspiring with that last bit, fortunately. It being a matter of what was or was not normal at home compared to on the Carnival grounds after all, the 'culture clash' is an interesting thing indeed.] ...Hmmm.

[Faintly, she can be heard calling, 'Noboru! We should probably bring that scroll of ours, the library might amplify it...', before focusing back on the radio.] Hmmm. I do wish I had thumbs...
prazerbutterfly: (zpost exo - huh?)

[personal profile] prazerbutterfly 2018-05-24 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
[He listens to everything she says but it doesn't hold his attention long. He's already focusing on one thing and one thing only.]

What are brownie points?
betheman: (just quietly enter Thought-)

[personal profile] betheman 2018-05-24 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
[Tyki, why-]

Mm? Brownie points? [It takes about half a second to realize that's a serious question, but she's understanding enough. It's in their nature after all.]

Oh! It's sort of a term to describe being in 'good favor' with someone. So...if someone went out of their way to help another, specifically so that this 'other person' would remember them in a better light, it would be 'scoring brownie points'.

A good way to put it...
[She thinks it over.] ...Someone helping their teacher with after-school matters; the 'brownie points' would be appearing diligent, or helpful in the teacher's eyes!

...of course not everyone uses the term badly, but it tends to imply going out of your way to 'look good',
[She huffs, apparently not very fond of those sorts.]
prazerbutterfly: (listening but losing interest)

[personal profile] prazerbutterfly 2018-05-24 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
So it's a fancy way of saying reputation... [What, did a kid make that up or something. Tyki doesn't understand this modern way of speaking.]
betheman: (WINKY FACE-)

[personal profile] betheman 2018-05-24 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't say 'fancy' exactly...it's some American slang, I'm not entirely sure of the origin. Reputation at least, you can gather without going out of your way for though, hmm?

Not to mention it can be good or bad,
[the cheetah chuckles.]
prazerbutterfly: (a little too fun)

[personal profile] prazerbutterfly 2018-05-24 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Amercian slang. I see.

[Sounding a little skeptical given how strange it is. What is what everyone glamouring up every word they have and making it something new? He understood doing that to clothes or others but words?]

You have a point.
betheman: (its the ultimate ` w `)

[personal profile] betheman 2018-05-24 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Quite a lot! We rather unintentionally picked up quite a bit thanks to Portland..!

Living here makes things so muddy, really...
[Extremely muddy, actually.]
prazerbutterfly: (Default)

[personal profile] prazerbutterfly 2018-05-24 04:26 am (UTC)(link)
So I've heard but that came with its own share of problems. Some, if not all, that I'm glad I was no part of.

But you need not tire of speaking of it. My question has been answered.
betheman: (More Sane Smiles)

[personal profile] betheman 2018-05-24 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm. You should be glad, frankly... ...but, any chance to NOT relive those memories is much appreciated, so thank you~
