Anybody ever had a dream about dyin'? But it feels so real that it's less like a dream and more like... a memory? An' it's not you dyin', it's somebody else, but yer seein' it like it's you.

[That is so specific Doll. Surely nobody has had this same experience. There's some awkward tense air before she continues.]

Normally I don' dream much, but this was right unsett'lin. Couldn' sleep much after.

I do not dream. (As far as he knows anyway.) Nor have I experienced death or a kiss. What you saw came from another. I only know how death comes upon a person and how it takes them away.

...yeah well I think ev'rybody knows that. We all die someday. Unless you're... immortal or somethin'.

I am. (Immortal.)

Oh! So that's why ya know, then. 'Cause I guess when yer immortal, and ev'rybody else isn't, y'see a lot'a people die.

It is my realm. I welcome the dead to their eternal home. (Both literally and figuratively. The bodies are buried and the souls come to him.)

...So yer the Grim Reaper? What're you doin' all the way out here?

I am much more than a mere Grim Reaper. (Though he likes the title!) I made a deal with the Ringmaster.

Why? What'd ya want from her? [She'll get back to how this guy and the Grim Reaper are different, when they both deal with taking people away after they die, but for now she's focusing on something else.]

I had grown bored of my duties. She offered a show. (Congrats, Doll, you are part of that show.)

...who's doin' yer job while you're here, then? Is ev'rybody jus' gonna keep right on livin'? Old people 'n all that?

I doubt it. The natural cycle will remain in effect. My realm is open for those who pass whether I am present or not.

No wonder you were bored...

(He chuckles.) I could pass the time with my fellow gods, but they too became...predictable.

Well if it's one thing this place is, it's unpredictable.

...is your place nice? Where ya take the dead?

So she promised. (And so he he stays.) It is within the bowels of the earth. Think of the deepest, darkest cave and that will suffice.

That doesn't seem very nice... Or d'you only get the bad ones?
