[The voice that comes over the public channel is... odd, and new to most folks here. He pauses for a bit, as if that's the entire thought-- but, sure enough, he follows it with an obviously annoyed question.]

So we're just kind of... here, because they say so? Like... this can't be legal, can it? Has anybody tried talking to the fuckin' police about this?

[As he speaks, he gets increasingly irritated, his voice breaking.]

I'm gonna be real with you guys: I've got half a mind to just kinda magic my way out, except I'm pretty sure the Ringleader or whatever would come after me. Is that a thing?

[Sounds impressive. It's not like he knows enough about TV to know how hard it is to get a show, but he's guessing it's a big deal.]

Hell yeah! We hit the road and did shows all over the place, back in the day. People were crazy about me out there!

Sounds like you had a pretty good thing going. Do you still do that these days - before you ended up here, I mean.

... ah, uhh... heh heh. [That's a "no" before he even actually voices the answer.] Nnnah, nowadays I work for a, uh, private company, doing... collection work.

Yeah? [The vague phrasing isn't totally lost on him, but who knows. Maybe that particular sequence of words means something more specific than it sounds like; it wouldn't be the first time that had happened.] Sounds like a pretty steady job, at least.

[Oh boy, does it.]

Yeah, something like that. Kinda working on a finite basis, though... I mean, once we're done collecting what we're after, we're gonna be done forever, so, you know. That's not great. The pay is good, though.

Huh, well. Sounds like a good thing to take while you can get it. Guess you could always try and save up now for when you're done, at least.
