Day 178

[Hinawa immediately threw her complementary mirror on the ground and stomped off back to the carnival upon hearing what the last 'challenge' would be. She doesn't know or care who might be paying attention to the radios, she just wants to yell into the ether more than anything.]

This is barbaric! How can anyone agree to this!? They're going to die!

Dying isn't what it's made out to be. As long as the will to live is stronger than the fear of living, then the future will always exist.

[Sigh.]

Souls are pretty strong. The human form is proof of the will to keep on living.

If people were that weak, we wouldn't exist at all.

Dying itself just isn't really an end.

[BUT SHE DOES SPEAK ENGLISH. SHE'S BILINGUAL.]

That's what it looks like from inside time, but it's just not true.

People have existed and re-existed for repetitions of time beyond time. And they will keep existing, because the human soul will remember its form, and will give itself form again.

I'm not saying it's not gonna hurt or anything, but the real pain isn't in dying itself. It's not gonna be the end of anyone, though. Believe me--humans survive because no matter what they experience, they will always be themselves.

Cruel?

[It's hard to tell if Mari sounds amused or annoyed.]

Humans live through cruel experiences every day. That's... pretty basic. We hurt each other all the time! In little ways, in big ways... physically, emotionally... that's just how we are!

And it shouldn't go away. If humans could forget their pains, or ignore them--if they could erase their own suffering, then they would never grow or change at all.

In other words, I'm saying the ability to absorb painful things and keep living is part of being human!
