This is Childermass. [ Like anyone doesn't recognize an English accent that's been gargling gravel by now. ] I would like all of us to keep an eye out for Summer Court activity in our upcoming stops. The letter I received from the Summerlands makes me think they might make a play for the Blue Rose.

Yes, her. [ He could point out that the spell wasn't for the entire Court, too, but he won't. Not a private channel, after all, but it's also not that delicate of information unless any of the supervisors are planning to betray them. ] The Ringmaster didn't seem to want to take what she wrote all that seriously.

What did the Starlight say, exactly?

[ Ugh, does he have to? There's definitely a hesitant pause but, ultimately, he can't just invite every damn supervisor to his trailer to read it themselves when he already has them on the radio. It would be stupid. So, he repeats the main part of the letter in his usual deadpan, saying, ]

'Consider the rose, and consider a time when you have tasted its thorns before. These flowers are alike in more than Name.'

[ There's a long, uncharacteristic silence on Lambert's end of the line, before he speaks, bleakly: ]

Why the fuck can't anyone with something useful to say ever say it in a way that you can actually understand?

It's like my cards, unfortunately. The glaring downside to reading the future is that you never get straight answers.

So what is it, a prophecy?

[ Suddenly, that seems much less funnier a concept than it did a few days ago. That's not lost on him, from the bitterness in his tone. ]

Not so much a prophecy as it is a warning. It doesn't imply something that's yet to pass as the reference is to only what's happened already, that there's a connection.

Open to interpretation. [ HOW HELPFUL. ] Which is why I am asking everyone keep an eye out for possible Summer Court activity.
