It seems useful for everyone to know that the Blue Rose is currently trying to escape its container. It's not succeeding... but it is certainly trying. I'm keeping an eye on it for now, but my current assumption is that our assailants are somehow responsible.

It's a plant. So, I mostly mean its growing everywhere, and trying to burrow outside of the containment area.

Is it somewhere that the Library's defenses might have an effect or should I assume it's simply best for us to, make our move as soon as possible?

I'd rather not get the Athenaeum's magic involved with the Rose if at all possible, so I suppose this message is mostly intended to convey that speed is an asset, yes.

Steven visited Yuya in a dream. Sounds like the Rose Queen’s manipulating their connection somehow to get at it.

You know, for something so powerful, you’d really think they could have written instructions.

I think the main problem there is that they were created without particular purpose. They were made for the sake of it, not so that they could serve any detailed function.

Steven visits people in dreams, though?

[ Then again, he doubts Steven makes a habit of doing it to the Ringmaster. Do fae even dream? ]

I don’t really know how it works ... and I don’t think he does, either. He did it at the Manor, slipping into servant’s dream.

I knew he was an empath but not that it went further than that...

If he's visiting people in the carnival, that means that the current wards aren't enough to deny him entry, yet. I'm sure that I can figure out how, it's just not something I've had to deal with, before.

Can you cut it down any? [It's a plant, it'll regrow, but that also takes time. Then again, the Rose moves quickly and Syrlya isn't sure she can curb its influence.]

It's very annoying. It can't be burned or frozen, and I don't want to remove any cuttings from the containment area, lest it sprout up somewhere else.

Also, it has this annoying habit of shattering when you chop it up.

... but iron will work.

[ For obvious reasons, though, she can't use that. But Lambert? Lambert doesn't want Childermass anywhere near that damn thing if he can help it, so he's not going to make the obvious suggestion here, thanks... ]

[ Mainly because, you know, he took it from the person you gave it to in the first place ... though it doesn't seem wise to say so out loud. Too bad most of the other people he'd trust with this are heading out and everything! ]

I'll find someone to stay with you and the Rose. Will that work?

[Syrlya hums. He remembers the shattering, but knowing it's impervious to its elements is interesting. That matches up with the Winter Maiden's resistance, if it was made by Queens.]

So we'll move with haste before she can do anything to--[Wait.] Is it only sensing a path of growth, or being manipulated? Can they use it from a distance to overpower the carnival's defenses?

I have no idea, which is the problem.

The one thing I'm relatively sure of is that I don't think Steven would be capable of controlling it in any intelligent way, even if he was compelled to. As we saw before, his attempt to commune was mostly one sided, with it completely overwhelming his will with its own.

Steven by himself, perhaps, but with the Rose Queen's influence...

[Steven's not the only plant empath in the carnival, but Syrlya's extremely reluctant to get into a fight of influence over the Blue Rose.]

So we shouldn't wait days. Understood. I am only with one group, but I am sure the others can understand we now have limited time.

Is there other magic that can help? Like, if fire doesn't work, does lightning work or or anything like that? [He wants to help, just to be helpful instead of doing nothing, but this might be out of his ability... It doesn't hurt to ask though.]

It's possible that lightning might fair better, but I wouldn't count on it. Though, the sheer concussive force might do something, the real problem is getting rid of the cuttings in a way that won't risk it spreading.

If the rose can't be burned, can the cuttings be burned? Or, what if like... Someone ate them? Like an animal or maybe someone's pokemon!

....If the Rose is somewhere it can't touch things, what if you made more places for the cut parts to not touch things? [Because from what she's hearing, Cut Parts is the Big Issue.]

Like floating them up in the sky here, or....ummm...

[Ok floating is all she got.] I guess you can't just make it slower....

[Mostly, she supposes this because if it hasn't been done already, then why Would it be possible.]

That's a fair point. I may have to just dedicate an entire other space to stranding its cuttings along with the core container used to hold the Rose itself.

That way I'll be able to see if the cuttings do sprout on their own.

...We still have to get rid of them later, I guess, but...at least it means they can go somewhere until everyone's back here, and it stops growing, right?
