[ rhys is usually pretty good with electronics but it takes him a little bit of time to figure out how to work this thing. it used to be so much easier. hyperion was a lot of things but technologically deficient it was not. ]

So, I gather things are still going on. Or maybe they're winding down? I can't tell because I've been stuck here the whole time.

[ he was still hanging out at the carnival, staying out of things because this was all a little too much for a guy who still considered him new. ]

Anyone need anything from back here? Laundry? Food? Hugs and kisses?

[ there would be no guarantee that he'd give anything that he offered. hey, he wanted to look good, not work too much. ]

I've got calluses on my hands from all the sweeping I've been doing because there's really nothing else to be done. That's how bored I am.

Umn... ...If you're bored, why aren't you helping to make the story for defending everything though? We can't do that one alone.

I guess I thought staying out the way would be more beneficial. I tried to help earlier and got told to stay put.

That's not being confident, that's being just wanting to be in charge. [Or she's pretty sure it is, anyway, since promotions always seemed to be terms used for people getting Really Important Jobs that involved Telling People What To Do.]

...We're supposed to make the story here, [She adds. You can indeed help, AND stay put! Magic.] ...But we're in a library, and we're not supposed to attack, so we have to make the story protect everything, not attack things!

Otherwise, I guess knives would help... ...but it's probably better with shields right now.

I just thought I should be recognized for my attention to detail. I've managed to clean a lot of dirt. I just thought recognition wouldn't be out of the question.

At best errand boy seems to be what you are shooting for.

[His tone seems less teasing this time around. He's kind of tired from the rescue mostly from the mental strain.] I could use a sandwich and perhaps a dozen apples from the Cookhouse.

[Tyki Mikk is a giant endurance test. It comes with a lot of patience and tolerance both with good and bad interactions.]

You get to give yourself a promotion if everyone else dies.

[ ...because then there really isn't anyone left, now is there? Although thanks to Childermass's tendency to sound blandly deadpan about nearly everything, whether he's joking or not may be a little hard to figure out. ]

[ it was something he needed to know so he could decide whether to make a smart alec comment about tyki having his own legs or whether he was going to give in and actually do this.

he didn't want to be known as both a pup and an errand boy. one of those was enough. ]

A little but nothing truly serious. Nothing that won't heal. Are you concerned?

[It's kind of sweet and he'll snort gently at the way it sounds. If anything, nicknames usually turn into terms of endearment with Tyki but unless someone knew him well enough it might take considerable time to tell the difference. ]

[ Not that he's judging anyone for that. That library is the opposite of safe. ]

But if you really are looking for something without a broom to do, you could always make sure the medical tent has enough clean linen in it. I've been watching the borders of the carnival, so I can't say I've bothered with checking that myself.

[ rhys has a dilemma. he doesn't really know if he should lie here or tell the truth. lying might win him some points on the cool scale but if it gets around and someone finds out, he could be in some shit. ]

Sounds easy enough. And a lot easier on my hands. I'm getting calluses! Even the robotic hand is getting rough skin and it's robotic!

[Considering that she wouldn't find dying very cool at all, this is probably the closest thing he'd get to saying anything she'd find cool in the slightest. So...congrats, Rhys.

Given time, that is true. My healing is slowed in the Ringmaster's realm but it works all the same.

Uh, I was...protecting something that a bad guy wanted.

[ that wasn't necessarily a lie. both vasquez and august wanted gortys and were willing to kill him to get it. it just so happened that he'd stolen gortys before them so he was kind of in the wrong. ]

These two douchebags were trying to get some really powerful technology and I stopped them.

[ by taking it first. ]

So, they thought they'd point their guns at me and threaten me. And then there were some killer robots too. It was just a chaotic time.
