I saw you try to attack a Fae in a room full of other Fae. [ That's really a point more in her favor, rather than against, but-- ] How do I know you're not just looking for another excuse to break your head against something?

[She huffs.] Attacking those fae was a mistake. I want someone who understands this stuff better than I do to take orders from, because there's no way I'm just going to sit back at the Carnival the next time this kind of thing happens.

And most people would have a problem sparring with someone who killed them, too. What's your point?

[ Point is, the nightrunners aren't exactly who come to mind when 'normal priorities' come to mind ... but in that respect, Jasper would fit right in.

But it's going to take more than words to convince Lambert. Rita was an easy shoo-in with a previous history of working with Lambert. Jasper, though ... she might have the ability, but as far as other qualifications... ]

[ Tall order, given one of them is currently in an egg, but ... ]

This is all assuming the Ringmaster signs off on this in the first place.

[You can practically hear Jasper squinting in concentration as she puts names to faces. You guys all have too many names??]

He’ll have to work with her regardless. I don’t want to waste time taking her on and then having them decide the middle of a mission is the best time to argue.

For whatever it's worth I... do think that Jasper would make an excellent Nightrunner. [Grumbling] Much as I hate to speak highly of her, she is being seriously underutilized, being placed under Psi's supervision.

[She also has no idea yet that Psi has been fired, whoops.]

[ To be fair, Lambert hasn’t a clue either, and won’t until actual official notice is given. But that’s the least of his concerns: ]

Ugh... Yes.

[It sounds like admitting that is physically painful to her.]

I think that having her work under the Foreman during whatever breaks there are between the bouts of outside forces trying to murder the lot of us is... theoretically, a good thing for her, because it forces her to try something that doesn't fall under the domain of what she was created to do. But Jasper is a quartz; she was made for fighting and taking orders. She's like, eight solid feet of pure martial prowess, and she needs someone to boss her around and order her to point that in the right direction.

[Pause.]

...Also I'm not going to tell Sans to take her on security because I'd rather not make Amethyst's life an actual hell.

I’ll keep the recommendation in mind. I know she’s qualified to fight ... but I need her to be able to think, too.

That's not-- I mean. Okay fine, that is sort of what I'm telling you. But she would probably do just fine on security as well! It's just that she and Amethyst have... Unpleasant history.

I don't know. It'll be interesting to see how she handles this task you've given her, at any rate.
