Out of curiosity, you know, for no particular reason at all, is anyone truly unhappy about being held against their will in this Carnival? What would you do if you had a chance to be free of your contract?

[If there's injustice about, he's got a motive for...certain activities that he believes could free them all from this Carnival.]

I understand that you don't want to be here in the first place, but a year and a day is hardly that long. Can't you simply wait it out?

No. I can't. Not me.

[ Strange can't help but pause for a moment. Because huh, he certainly knows something about rushing into things headfirst and not wanting to wait and making possibly bad decisions because of it, damn everybody, Strange is gaining a little bit of self-reflection.

And he really hates it because there's no empathizing with Sherlock when he's wrong! Stupid acknowledgement of his own faults, this sucks! ]

[Something in Sherlock's face softens. As angry as he had been, and rather rude to him to boot, Strange didn't deserve any of it.]

It's...it's fine. It wasn't your fault.

I do think there should be a way to attempt to lessen your time if possible. After all, some people only joined the carnival on an accident. It's hardly their fault that they're here.

I haven't found a way yet. Probably won't, I doubt she'd do that for me unless I did something like save her life.

[Oh. That was a thought. A gleam in his eyes.]

Well, I wish you the best of luck with that. After all, she's the Ringmaster. I highly doubt her magic would let anyone harm her in the first place.

[ said as he totally forgets that she's a bit powerless right now. ]

[Even so it probably was futile. Some magic must still be around to keep this Carnival intact. He sighed.]

Perhaps there will be other opportunities.

To prove yourself? Undoubtedly so! This is an understaffed magical carnival, there's certainly some things you could do to build up goodwill.
