[ There are a lot of things people need to do right now: help the Prince's servants get resettled, get started on figuring out who can work on a cure for the petrification, deal with the trauma of dying in a hopefully healthy and non-self-destructive way, show the new people the ropes of what the Carnival has to work with.

Instead, in the morning of the second day since the Prince was defeated, anyone on the radio gets this: ]

[ The Nightrider's voice, for those who recognize it, has definitely been better. It's a low, hoarse rasp, and the pause at the end is not just for effect, but to actually catch his breath. ]

Just how old is everyone here, anyway? Here, I'll start. I'm ... pretty sure I'm almost sixty. [ A beat. ] ... Maybe.

[ Why did anyone let this man have his radio back again? ]

Until I can remember how to walk again. [ Is the answer Lambert has to that, dry and rough. It's hard, Taako. It's hard when your limbs are petrified and you feel like you're a goddamn infant remembering how basic limb function works again. ]

Okay. [Taako takes a deep breath, getting his words in order. This is his first time having to actually verbally tell this story. Shit.]

The short version of it is, uh, a long time ago, my sister and I joined this group that does, uh, interplanar research? And we went out on this trip that was supposed to be super brief, but some... crazy things happened, and we ended up spending, uh, maybe, like... 100 years, I guess, repeating this one year over and over, but in a different universe each time it reset.

Yeeeeeahhhh. It was, uh... not the best time I've ever had, that's for sure. I mean... we had some good times, I guess, but... well, it's kind of hard to fully appreciate visiting another planet when you know it's probably gonna be gone in a year. See, that was the other thing...

[This is a lot of talking. He takes a deep breath, and then makes a go of it.]

We had this... thing after us. Or, uh, things? We call it the Hunger, because, uh, it swallows stuff up.

[ It's a surprisingly common problem, Taako. You and Strange should compare notes. Come to think of it, you and Sans and Papyrus should compare notes too, because this sounds awfully similar. ]
