[ There are a lot of things people need to do right now: help the Prince's servants get resettled, get started on figuring out who can work on a cure for the petrification, deal with the trauma of dying in a hopefully healthy and non-self-destructive way, show the new people the ropes of what the Carnival has to work with.

Instead, in the morning of the second day since the Prince was defeated, anyone on the radio gets this: ]

[ The Nightrider's voice, for those who recognize it, has definitely been better. It's a low, hoarse rasp, and the pause at the end is not just for effect, but to actually catch his breath. ]

Just how old is everyone here, anyway? Here, I'll start. I'm ... pretty sure I'm almost sixty. [ A beat. ] ... Maybe.

[ Why did anyone let this man have his radio back again? ]

It's true... I don't even want complicated food. If I could just eat sandwiches for a few weeks, I would be content.

[Well, there is that. But if they're lucky, they can nap and recover while someone else does the complicated research stuff.]

Couldn't you just eat the cheese on its own, then?

Does... does Lambert just do that? Eat cheese, or other sandwich fillings, without any of the fixings??

We've probably eaten better at the Carnival than we have in years.

[Papyrus goes quiet a moment, a little shifty and guilty. He's never truly stressed for money, between his job and Sans' secretive multiple jobs, not on a level where food would a true concern. So he doesn't have any good insight into what they're talking about. Thankfully, that's never been an obstacle for him to keep talking.]

Hmmm, but it sounds like you prefer this. Well-constructed foods, flavors mingling and mangling in your mouth... Surely you'd rather a good hearty sandwich, than some run of the mill hunk of cheese?

Hmm ... depends where we are. Hard cheese travels well, and you can always find or hunt something to go with it.

We'll eat almost anything. We can even eat just raw meat, if there's nothing else!

If it's practical for the road, I guess I see why you'd need to do that...

...Why would you eat raw meat, when you have fire magic???

Well, sometimes you get hungry when you're hiding and waiting for a monster to step into the trap, and you've got some extra bait...
