Months ago, during the Celebration, a few of us got together to talk about and compare the magic from our worlds. Well, it's been a while since then and we've certainly picked up more magicians, so why not revive that little discussion group?

[ he's phrasing it as a hypothetical but as Strange keeps barging on, there's nothing hypothetical about it: he is totally reviving that discussion group. ]

I've asked around and the smaller festival hall in the building closest to the carnival portal is available for our use. Anyone who's interested should meet there tonight, just after sundown, for an informal gathering to talk about magic. There will be space inside the festival hall and outside in the snow for anyone to demonstrate their techniques.

Likewise, anyone who wishes to learn about magic should come and visit as well. [ And there's a bit of a pause like Strange is trying his hardest to choose his words carefully. ] Magicians in the carnival have different types of magic drawing upon different techniques. While one school of thought might seem incomprehensible, another might seem as clear as day. This is a chance for those of us with magic to learn from each other and develop our skills and those of us who wish to learn magic to see what practice would best fit their needs.

[ There's a pause, because Strange has no idea how to end this. ] Sound off if you're coming, I suppose. Oh, and can someone bring snacks?

Different types of people react to alcohol in different ways. I've a feeling I know what type you would be, I simply wish to see my theory proved right.

[periphrasing]

Alright. What type do you think I would be, then?

[She sounds super skeptical of this information!]

Loud.

[ Strange is a soppy drunk. Lambert is a dumb decisions drunk. Peridot is most likely a shouty drunk. ]

[periphrasing]

I'm loud on a normal basis as is, I don't need to imbibe your bizarre intoxicants to accomplish that.

[kingsroads]

Yes, but you're not drunk loud. There's a difference.

[periphrasing]

I'd ask you to elaborate, but I get the sense that this is one of those situations where you're just going to tell me that I need to experience it in order to understand, isn't it?

That's correct! I'll be by with some alcohol and cups either today or tomorrow. What time works best for you?

What? To what end? I barely even understand this bizarre ritual in the first place, why is this suddenly a necessity!?

To learn more about each other, of course. [ Duhhhh, Peridot. ] You can't really say you know someone until you've shared a drink with them. Or two. Or however many it takes to loosen them up.

[ That being said, he conveniently leaves out how some things are best left unknown. ]

How many does it USUALLY take? Because I have to admit, eating and drinking aren't exactly high up on my list of favorite activities.

[whattaprick]

However many it takes to get you hammered. For you, it probably wouldn't take much.

[periphrasing]

So... it varies. [Disgusting!] Based on what?

[whattaprick]

A lot of things. Body mass, metabolism, experience with drinking, the alcohol's potency, whether you've got a full stomach or not.

[periphrasing]

[A lot of those things sound. Incredibly organic.

Just making a rudimentary stomach to put things in isn't going to cut it this time around, it sounds like. Gonna have to go the whole hog.]

So I'll just have to use one of my transformation spells before I try it. Alright. Fine. [She's pretty much resigned to this now.] Do you think I should use the chiropterid or the draconid form?

[whattaprick]

First one. [ Lambert says without hesitation. Less chance of things getting accidentally set on fire, for one, and it'll be easier to subdue her in case she turns out to be a bit of the drunk that gets in trouble. ]

I don't know if a dragon can get drunk, but bats definitely can.

[ Lambert has the grace to sound slightly embarrassed, and also kind of stilted, like he's describing he isn't familiar with. Which is, well, true enough, even if it wasn't true back in Portland. ]

[No internet at the carnival, which must mean Lambert remembers something Portland related that she doesn't. Hmm.]
