This is…Herbert West: a contributor to the recent cure as you may recall as well as…your new Doctor. [He pauses to let that sink in, sounding really smug about it.] The Medical Team is still, small but as more experienced members join it has become more…evident that we do not have the resources we need to properly, treat the Carnival staff.

Namely: up to date medical documentation on you all—now, I made do before with what I had, during the process of constructing the cure but those involved may recall being asked various questions, questions which would have been unnecessary had the previous department been keeping your notes on file. Perhaps medical files aren’t required by, magical zebras but they are required by. Me. It is considerably easier for everyone when all previous knowledge doesn’t leave with the former physician—I’m sure you can agree. [He’s trying his best to sound congenial, definitely, but it mostly comes off as stilted as usual…maybe it counts that he’s trying?]

Today and tomorrow, myself and Mr Okumura will be available to perform physical examinations; any additional medical history you can provide is, welcome, and if you would prefer to attend on an alternate date, contact me to arrange a time.

[And then because so many people here are damned word weasels:] I have to insist all of you show up. Even if you’re healthy. Especially, if you’re healthy to give us an idea of your baseline state but we will, of course, treat any issues you have. Understand, it’s for the good of the Carnival and everyone’s…future well-being.

I have multiple outfits, I simply hold no interest in...fashion. There are more important things I'm concerned with. [The most important bit out of the way (because shut up, Tyki, he's incredibly clean!) he moves on to sincerity. It actually comes across that way, too.] I wouldn't have applied for a supervisory role if I didn't care about the health of the Carnival.

[Huh, that was interesting. He didn't expect that from Herbert. The man is so incredibly stiff.]

Because it keeps you alive? Is it that you need the benefits that come with the role? Be honest, Herb.

...no, they're identical. Why on Earth would I have that?

What benefits--you and everyone else clearly continue to ignore my orders and advice. If I am assigned a job I would prefer to do it well.

Well, if one was wearing something of that particular item I would be more inclined to show up~

Of course. As a supervisor you now have the ability to throw your weight around. Unfortunately because of your lack of people skills and your 'insisting' that we show up instead of trying to establish a good patient to doctor relationship first as actual human beings, you are only pushing people away.

To me, it simply sounds as if you are more concerned about the upkeep of your job than the actual situation.

Why? [Seriously, Tyki, that's ridiculous.]

Previously when I was, perfectly polite and provided several, options, the recipients of the cure proceeded to. Do precisely what I advised against! I attempted to correct that error, this time, and I am being accused of--of creepiness and not truly caring! There doesn't seem to be any method that will be listened to!

Tell me, if someone showed up that you didn't know and you had no knowledge whatsoever of what they were capable of that offered you a 'cure' for something that ailed you. Would you take it without questioning it or are you so much higher than everything else you would assume you'd be fine?

I got caught, I learned my lesson.

People take time, Mister West. Patience, persistence, and care. They have to warm up to you. Do you think everyone just trusted the zebra right away? I didn't.

She was charming, had a good personality, talked to me about her home world. I didn't really get a chance to discover that answer. I had only met her one night and then she was just gone.

Maybe I'm trying to help you. Or maybe not. I know people.

It's absurd that...people skills are valued above intelligence and, efficacy.

What do you get out of this.

Is it? From my understanding neither is really valued over the other. It's just all your efforts, your intelligence, your results mean nothing if you cannot get people to actually come to you. Right?

Someone I can rely on. [And because he's being honest.] And maybe a little fun.
