If anyone, older member or newer arrival, wants information on... [ oh lord, this is going to take a while. Strange sighs slightly before obviously reading off a list of terms he's written down. ] Arcadia, the Rose Queen, Ignatius, Nightshade, the Count of Crows, Frost, the Summer Court, the Winter Court, how faerie court hierarchies work, the Wyld Fae, or the Beast, then I'll be happy to tell you what I know. I picked up some knowledge from my time in Portland and through conversations with the fae here and, for obvious reasons, don't want to bore all of you with far too many details and speculations at once.

[ There's a pause, partly to catch his friggen breath, before Strange continues talking. ]

I can at least explain Portland, though--for our new arrivals, of course. It's a city where the carnival was recently trapped for a month. Many members had their memories altered and believed they lived in the city for their entire lives. It was a...trying experience.

[ Understatement of the century. Strange sighs, like he's steeling himself for what he's going to say next. ]

Portland had it's own set of fae, some of whom I mentioned in my previous list. Plenty of the carnival members have ill-will towards those fae, who seemed determined to vex us and ruin our lives during that month. And despite the fact that we've left that world, I've a feeling that we'll see those fae again. Now that the Severing's removed, they can travel to different worlds the same way the Ringmaster can. And it wouldn't surprise me if some tried to reclaim what or who they believe they lost.

[ how dramatic! And quite possibly the worst way to end a broadcast as Strange just flips the radio off then and there. He has absolutely no clue how to best END the broadcast so not being cryptic is officially for chumps. ]

[ said in a very 'well DUH' sort of tone. ]

You're right. But cunning and strategy can only get you so far in the face of overwhelming odds.

How do you know it's going to be overwhelming if they show up then?

[She fumbles juuuuust slightly with that one big word, but she's got this.]

Because we've faced off against them before--last month, when the carnival was in Portland. It's only due to lucky timing that the carnival was able to escape with injuries instead of death.

Did you know how to fight them then though?

If you know about them now, you can get ready and fight them to win this time!

You really are the inquisitive sort, aren't you.

[ because geez Reira, slow down on the questions! ]

The problem is we know about them now, and as such we know just how hopelessly outclassed we are compared to the true fae.

[Hmmmmm. What she's hearing is...] ...So you just think you're going to lose because they're faeries.

[Hmmm.] ...If you do that, then you'll definitely lose a fight. Actually trying to win when you think you can makes it a lot easier..! [Or at least, she's pretty sure that's how it works.] ...Because sometimes, you can still beat something that seems better than you!

I admire your optimism, [ even though Strange thinks it's REAL USELESS. ]

Like I said, it's only due to a series of lucky coincidences we were able to survive Portland. We can't rely on luck to save our skins the next time we run into the fae.

Then stop being scared so that you can practice and get ready.

[ holy shit is this kid annoying. There's no way to nicely say "buddy you literally have no idea what you're talking about" is there.

Perhaps you should tell that to some of the other people here? I'm sure that those who spent the last month being tortured and harassed by the Summer Court would love to hear your simple solution of 'stop being scared'.

[Rather unfortunately for Strange, that doesn't really make her feel any worse...possibly because she got that treatment from her 'mom' anyway, in it's own sense.

Certainly not as bad as any fae could manage, but that's about as far as her tiny child brain is taking her.] It's pretty hard to stop being scared, [she says seriously, taking this quite seriously herself.] But...

The important part I think...is that the worst thing that happens is everyone loses, and everyone is dead. So if you know the worst thing that can happen, then you know that no matter what, trying to fight if they come anyway won't make it worse.

...That's how you stop being scared and fight back. ...And...You don't really stop being scared I guess, [She decides, thinking back to when she had to stand up to the Last ultimate power she remembers,] ...but you're at least not scared of fighting back, and that's the part that has to happen. ...because being afraid of fighting back just means that the people attacking get away with things. ...things like hurting everyone, or destroying their homes.

...So stop being scared of that, and get ready instead. ...because if they're going to come anyway, then you can't just let it happen.

And if you fight back, and you work hard to make sure you're ready, then it won't happen. You'll win.

[ Reira used pep talk! It is not very effective. Because as she keeps talking about not being scared and fighting back and getting ready, all Strange can think of is that he's been trying to tell people just how dangerous the fae can be and, at least in this case, it's falling entirely on deaf ears. ]

I thought everybody here would at least have some idea by now. But you lot really have no idea what happened last month, do you.

[ It's said in a resigned tone of voice. Because this kid, whoever she is, she's new. She wasn't there for last month, she's got no idea why everybody's jittery and on edge and still a little bit traumatized. And no matter how many people explain this to her, she might not ever understand it unless she deals with the fae herself. So of course she can easily say things like 'we're going to fight back.' ]

The worst thing isn't death, by the way. That's not as permanent here as one would believe.

[They can't all be the main protagonist in a shonen friendship show. It certainly doesn't help that she's, well-] ...Of course I don't know what happened. I wasn't there. [A touch straight forward.

She tried though.]

...but you don't know if some of the new people have already seen either. ...it's hard to feel how everyone feels right now, since I can't feel that through these, but...I guess that what you said means you're still scared to fight, then...I don't know what your worst is though.

...for the kind of death that is permanent, that's the biggest worse I could think of.

I don't know if it's possible for everyone to have their world destroyed, and then broken into other worlds, and turned into people that forgot about it. ...that's the Bigger worst, since it means everything happens again, but I don't know if that one can happen.

...but if you don't think you should fight, and that staying too scared to fight is better...what do you think Will happen?

Oh, I'm a nightrunner, I know I'm going to fight at some point. [ he's just not sure he's going to WIN. ]

As for what will happen, I'm not sure--hence why I made this broadcast. Whatever happens, at least people now know more about who we'll be going up against.

[WELL this is on her then. She totally thought he was doing the kind of worry where you just give up.]

[Oh.] ...oh. [Well.] ....It still helps to think you might win, when you do that. ...otherwise, you just get stuck being scared and it makes you mess up.

...Yuuya said I have to listen to the Nightrunners to stay safe, but he didn't say what those people do. Are they like Lancers?

I'm afraid I can't answer that question--simply because I don't know what a Lancer is!

[ Now that the conversation's shifting, Strange is becoming a LOT more relaxed and a LOT more calm. ]

Niisama made the Lancers from a team of duelists, to fight Academia, and stop them from invading other dimensions and destroying them! I was one, and Gongenzaka and Yuuya was one too, but things got sort of changed at the end I guess...

...They're really strong though.

[ Thankfully, Strange is a bit oblivious to the fact that literally everything in Yu-Gi-Oh revolves around card games & selling that merch. ]

Then yes, I suppose you could say that we're like Lancers! The job of the Nightrunners is to scout ahead on whatever worlds we visit as well as to protect the carnival in case of an attack.

[There is a pause.] ....I'm still not going to listen to everything though.

Considering who our Nightrider is, I wouldn't recommend listening to everything he says in the first place.

The Nightrider is the one in charge of the Nightrunners, by the way. He's a man named Lambert.
