This is…Herbert West: a contributor to the recent cure as you may recall as well as…your new Doctor. [He pauses to let that sink in, sounding really smug about it.] The Medical Team is still, small but as more experienced members join it has become more…evident that we do not have the resources we need to properly, treat the Carnival staff.
Namely: up to date medical documentation on you all—now, I made do before with what I had, during the process of constructing the cure but those involved may recall being asked various questions, questions which would have been unnecessary had the previous department been keeping your notes on file. Perhaps medical files aren’t required by, magical zebras but they are required by. Me. It is considerably easier for everyone when all previous knowledge doesn’t leave with the former physician—I’m sure you can agree. [He’s trying his best to sound congenial, definitely, but it mostly comes off as stilted as usual…maybe it counts that he’s trying?]
Today and tomorrow, myself and Mr Okumura will be available to perform physical examinations; any additional medical history you can provide is, welcome, and if you would prefer to attend on an alternate date, contact me to arrange a time.
[And then because so many people here are damned word weasels:] I have to insist all of you show up. Even if you’re healthy. Especially, if you’re healthy to give us an idea of your baseline state but we will, of course, treat any issues you have. Understand, it’s for the good of the Carnival and everyone’s…future well-being.
[ooc: Make sure to help me out by posting anything you think of to the med tent info post. Also, Herbert is almost literally always in the med tent during daytime hours but let us know if you have an ooc preference for checkups.]

YUKIO | ACTION
She comes into the tent somewhat shyly, followed by an eagle almost her size-certainly not a difficult feat, given that she herself is a good four inches under four foot. As she comes in, she peers about, eyes wide and curious. The tent is different from last she saw it, and thus the somewhat rockskinned girl is distracted.
She came for a reason though-and no doubt she'll be reminded of that soon.]
action
So he just smiles at both figures coming through the flap of the tent door, and puts down the braid of garlic he's tangling together.]
Hello. How can I help you today?
no subject
...I'm supposed to get a check-up again, I think... ...The doctor said there would be another doctor if he wasn't here though...so...
...I guess that's you..? [You said 'how can I help', so presumably that means You Work Here. ...Also.
That garlic. It's smelly.] ....Is that important? [She won't have to eat it, right-]
no subject
I'm Doctor Okumura, what's your name?
no subject
Akaba Reira, [she introduces, nodding-the name contrasts the face considerably, but there could be any number of reasons why.] So...
...What do I have to do?
no subject
The first thing we need to do is talk. [He picks up a clipboard, and starts taking notes and asking questions, one at a time, letting her speak, and listening to her answers.]
How do you write your name? How old are you? Do you know if you were adopted or not?
no subject
[But that aside.] ...Everyone says seven, and I didn't pick a birthday yet, so I guess seven. ...But Mom was only my mom for a little bit before I came here, so I'm adopted.
[Slightly better conditions than before adoption, but really, the carnival is probably the best living situation she's ever Had. It'll show once he's had a better look-while the holidays are starting to slowly reverse things, there's years of malnutrition at work.]
no subject
You should probably pick a birthday, just so you don't lose track of your age.
[He needs to figure out how to proceed here. No family history, so it's time for measurements.]
Next, we'll see how tall you are and how much you weigh.
-Hurriedly digs out my average heights/weights charts-
[It's a bit tight. Regardless-she nods] Ok! ... Do I have to stand on something? [Do they even have a scale?? Shoot. Well, whatever they use, she's under the average bar. 3'8'' is a touch short for 7, and while she's not Severely underweight, 42 is still just a little light for her height.]
no subject
[There's a scale and a height rod, and Yukio takes down the information. He's not a pediatrician, so he doesn't really know much about average heights and weights, but he needs the information for the records.]
Are you getting enough to eat here? [Some kids are just scrawny.]
no subject
In any case, there are questions to be answered.] Um...there's lots of food, I just don't know what I like yet...I'm trying as much as I can though-!! [she insists, nodding.]
no subject
That's good. When you find out what you like, you should let Okumura Rin know, and he'll make it for you.
[And now to move on to other questions.]
Have you ever had any kind of surgery before? Or did you go to the doctors a lot when you were younger?
we are taking a NOSEDIVE into implications of abuse, and child soldiers, here...
[Ahh...Hmmmm.]
....I don't...think so? ....there weren't doctors when I was with the soldiers, but there were a lot after my mom took me... [A sentence which brings Many key points, to say the least.]
....I don't think they did a 'surgery'. I don't remember one, anyway... ...Just the chair with wires. ....it's hard to remember things from both places, though...
OH BOY WE SURE ARE
It's good that your mom took you to see doctors. Do you remember if they said anything about you being sick, or if there was any medication you were supposed to take every day?
no subject
...they didn't talk to me either. Mostly they just did a lot of writing and looking.
no subject
He keeps it calm and professional, like she didn't say anything horrifying.]
All right.
Have you been sick or injured since you've been here?
no subject
I got poisoned at the Prince's 'manor'-but Doctor Herbert gave me the medicine for that already, and I'm not sick from that anymore..!
no subject
That's good.
[Anything else? Not really. He doesn't want to ask.]
That should be enough information for now. If you ever feel sick, or get injured, or if anything about your body ever feels strange, just come and talk to us.
no subject
She'll try a small smile. Smiles help things at least a little right? That's what Yuuya always said, so she nods.] Mnh-!! I will..!
...Do I have to come here if weird changes happen, then?
no subject
Let's bring Humor Back
Then she does this.] ....Like this?
no subject
... ]
Uh. Yes. [He's seen a human head on a horse neck and somehow this is no less terrible.
RIGHT OKAY he knows what those are]
Those are nictitating membranes. They should help protect your eyes.
Do you have any other changes like that?
no subject
[Anyway.] ...That's the only one... ...There's just my rocks, and then the sparkles when I walk, after that. [The rocks, of course, are obvious. They're kinda making patches on her skin, not to mention the olivine crystal growth formations just at the side of her head. (They look a bit like roses...)
Sparkles... ...Eh, he'll see that when she goes to leave.]
no subject
Are the rocks causing you any pain? Do they rub on your skin anywhere? If they do, we can talk to the wardrobe department about adjusting your clothing.
no subject
[It's Fine.] ....I got lots of clothes after the rocks anyway. People gave me a lot of sweaters!
[She received two. Two whole sweaters.]
