[PUBLIC CHANNEL] RINGMASTER'S ELEVENTH ADDRESS (D72)

[The radios will glow green as the Ringmaster begins a broadcast.]

Welcome back to the carnival, everyone. Things may look the same as before, but I assure you, there is no stone that has been left unturned or tree that hasn't been uprooted. We'll have no more stalkers from here on out.

There are a few things of relevance that I have to tell you about. Firstly, Ignatius is no longer in the moon. Instead, he's been relocated to a small island in the middle of the lake. He can't leave it, and you aren't allowed to visit it without my permission. If you do, and he wounds you, you can consider it your own fault.

In a related matter, I've decided to invest my magical energies into granting each of you a ressurection egg, as we clearly can't anticipate any peaceful resolutions from this. If you don't know what that means, it's essentially a ritual spell I'll need your help in completing - once it's done, it will bring you back to life if you happen to perish, but only once. Also, you will have to be in the egg long enough to regrow and hatch. This is no small favour on my part, and it won't work unless your soul can make it back to the egg.

Thirdly, after calling in several favours, I think the location of Eden is almost within view. A few allies will be joining us over the next week and giving us more information. Until then, carry on about your business, as there are some new things you'll have to get used to.

We're going to be organizing the Supervisor guided departments differently from now on. I have explained the details to the Supervisors, and they can fill you in on what will be expected of you. There will not be only six categories: Militia, Acquisitions, Engineering, Management, Administration, and Medical.

Supervisors, feel free to sound off with what group you are leading and what it is for.

Engineering may have the same name as always, but the focus of our work will be far different from here on out.

Alphys, Scout, Yugo and Yuusei, you're all under my watch. Fixing rides and coming up with lighting and sound effects for the shows are no longer any of your concern, because there won't be any more rides or shows for the foreseeable future.

From now on, we will be focusing on maintaining an armory for the rest of the carnival members. That means weapons, that means armor, and lots of it.

An armory?

[She sounds like she's trying to hide disappointment.]

I suppose. What kinds of gear do you have in mind?
periphrasing: (peridoubt)

[personal profile] periphrasing 2018-06-27 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[She's completely tone deaf to that disappointment, sorry Scout]

That's something we'll have to coordinate heavily with the members of the militia on to figure out. There will be room for tinkering and inventing from scratch, but a big part of this will be figuring out what the other teams require and making things to meet those needs. I imagine your Nightrunner experience will provide useful insight here, in that regard.
stillwinningthehardway: (🔪Come - stop - rest.)

[personal profile] stillwinningthehardway 2018-06-28 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Mm.

You know I have no experience in making things from scratch, right? Or one experience basically. I was only ever in repairs because I'm good at following manuals and cleaning and replacing fiddly components. I've only been able to do anything quickly because the gear we've been provided has been so primitive and oversized.

Then I'll make schematics for you to follow.

[She sounds like her patience is being tested pretty hard right now. So far three out of four of her people are admitting that they're not as qualified for this work as she'd hoped, and she wasn't really prepared for that.]
stillwinningthehardway: (☁The stars are lit for my delight)

[personal profile] stillwinningthehardway 2018-06-29 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Scout really wants to say that this is droid work.]

Things are coming out of a kit to be assembled? I can do that. Anyone who can read and interpret a basic circuit diagram could do that. [Aka, anyone, in her mind.]
bananaspeedrider: (kinda lost)

[personal profile] bananaspeedrider 2018-06-27 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Never built anything along either of those lines before... but I guess there's a first time for everything, eh?
alphudo: (Default)

[personal profile] alphudo 2018-06-27 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you've built a d-wheel shell before, right? It may not be people armour, but it serves a similar purpose, doesn't it? I'm sure that experience will come in handy.

...it seems we're in the same field now, on that note, huh?
periphrasing: (Well this is a pickle.)

[personal profile] periphrasing 2018-06-27 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
You know how to shape metal at least, right?
bananaspeedrider: (workin)

[personal profile] bananaspeedrider 2018-06-28 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, if you need me to tweak something or whatever to makes them fit onto something. I've done that lots of times for replacement parts in my D-Wheel! ... Just not actual weapons and stuff.

Might be useful to have more than just a few vehicles around here anyway, for people that need them.
periphrasing: ((sidelong squint))

[personal profile] periphrasing 2018-06-28 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
[Muttering:] ...That's actually not a bad idea.

Look, if I give you instructions on how to build a laser pistol, could you follow them? Because if you can, then I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.
bananaspeedrider: (eyyy)

[personal profile] bananaspeedrider 2018-07-01 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah...! If you're gonna be doing that for us, then I know I can do that much- no problem at all!

[Also he couldn't hear exactly what that muttering was, but Yugo's going to assume that his suggestion was good enough to not be shot down blatantly. So, good thing?]

So what's gonna be our meeting place for checking the stuff we already have and whatnot?
textsfromhotland: (get in the robot mettaton)

[personal profile] textsfromhotland 2018-06-27 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
What are your thoughts on giant mecha.

[alphys no]
periphrasing: (Am I not turtley enough.)

[personal profile] periphrasing 2018-06-27 11:50 pm (UTC)(link)
...Giant mecha?

[She's not familiar with the terminology.]
textsfromhotland: (hacker voice I'M IN)

[personal profile] textsfromhotland 2018-06-28 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Robotic, pilot-able vehicles, usually humanoid in appearance. You know, giant robots.

[Do you dig giant robots, Peridot?]
periphrasing: (Ummmmm)

[personal profile] periphrasing 2018-06-28 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
['Giant robots' makes much more sense to her. And with a rush of understanding:]

Oh! Yes! I've made something like that before.

I'm not sure that such a solution is practical for our purposes, though.
alphudo: (wide-eyed)

[personal profile] alphudo 2018-06-28 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Aww. Well, so much for his balance training during their camping period. Maybe it'll come in handy anyway, or sometime later.]

Are you familiar with this sort of thing? I've built personal vehicles before, but definitely not weapons.
periphrasing: ((mouth fart))

[personal profile] periphrasing 2018-06-28 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course I'm familiar with building weapons. It's not like it's hard. You can follow a blueprint, can't you?
alphudo: (owlish)

[personal profile] alphudo 2018-06-28 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
...of course I can. It's just nice to know at least one of us has directly relevant experience.
fortuneglass: (o-o?)

[personal profile] fortuneglass 2018-06-28 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, yes, that reminds me-!

Peridot; we have a 3D printer which recycles various materials, in the Wardrobe tent. Typically if you're making copies of things, it's...not quite the same quality as before..

But when it comes to recycling scraps into sheets of material to work with it's been perfect. Given everything...I would like to open its use to your department as well! It would probably be really handy for re-purposing scraps!
