[It occurs to him that sure, Sans ended their exchange with one of his bad nap jokes, but not before he said sorry. A couple of times.

[In the time Psiionic and Sans talk, Papyrus considers the weirdness of his brother lately. Sad remarks about being different... admitting that his last memories weren't of the surprisingly improved Sans, but some other, sadder way things could have, did have, gone.

It's strange and uncomfortable. And more strange and uncomfortable, to hear someone say they think he's not doing the right thing.]
