Months ago, during the Celebration, a few of us got together to talk about and compare the magic from our worlds. Well, it's been a while since then and we've certainly picked up more magicians, so why not revive that little discussion group?

[ he's phrasing it as a hypothetical but as Strange keeps barging on, there's nothing hypothetical about it: he is totally reviving that discussion group. ]

I've asked around and the smaller festival hall in the building closest to the carnival portal is available for our use. Anyone who's interested should meet there tonight, just after sundown, for an informal gathering to talk about magic. There will be space inside the festival hall and outside in the snow for anyone to demonstrate their techniques.

Likewise, anyone who wishes to learn about magic should come and visit as well. [ And there's a bit of a pause like Strange is trying his hardest to choose his words carefully. ] Magicians in the carnival have different types of magic drawing upon different techniques. While one school of thought might seem incomprehensible, another might seem as clear as day. This is a chance for those of us with magic to learn from each other and develop our skills and those of us who wish to learn magic to see what practice would best fit their needs.

[ There's a pause, because Strange has no idea how to end this. ] Sound off if you're coming, I suppose. Oh, and can someone bring snacks?

Looking for magicians sounds like you're wanting people who just know how to create tricks, not cast magic. ( 'mages' sounds so much better. ) But I'll be there, if you're looking for new members.

What term would you prefer I use? Mages? Wizards? There's so many different ways to describe magic users—I simply use 'magician' because it is what we were called back in my world.

[ Strange is very cavalier about this. After all, it doesn't matter what they're called, just that they're people who can do magic. ]

And this isn't an organization or a codified group or anything like that. I've never been one for rules. [ the word 'rules' is said like most people would say 'roadkill' ] Anyone who wishes to learn about different strains of magic should attend. If that applies to you, then I hope to see you there.

You can read books if you wish. You can also ignore books entirely. The choice is up to you—though I will bring along a book about magic that I own if anyone wants to borrow it.

Would you show up even if there wasn't food conjuring magic? After all, you were there for that Celebration meeting.

I'm not sure I'd meet the requirements for learning, [Simply because there's not really magic in her world] but I'd love to listen and watch if you guys will be doing magic too!

The only requirements for learning are a desire to learn in the first place. If you wish to listen and watch, then you definitely should attend.

Out of curiosity, what sort of spells can you cast?

That still counts as magic, you know. Even if you can only cast one or two spells, it doesn't change the fact that you still know how to perform magic.

[ but let's talk about FOOD. ]

Out of curiosity, what snacks would you bring?

I ain't really got any magic, but I'm lookin' to learn some. Shapeshifting magic, in particular. Anyone out there besides that pink menace Mari who can help with that?

I know a few people with magic of that sort—if none speak up here, I'll make certain at least one of them attends the gathering.

If you want to 'show off cool techniques,' then attend simply to show off cool techniques! Like I said, this is informal. I won't set any limitations for who can attend or not.

Wonderful! [ Strange is amped as well, so it's just a feedback loop of people pumping each other up. ]

You see, this is exactly why I wanted to arrange this meeting in the first place! I know that you've been exposed to all sorts of different magic in the carnival, but how often have you been able to sit down and have a proper talk with one of the magicians here? This meeting will let people who wish to learn do so.
